My wedding photographs are not everyone's cup of tea. I've known this for years but it doesn't stop me from taking them. My name is David and I'm a documentary wedding photographer who has chosen an alternative way of seeing, recording and understanding Irish weddings. Look away now if you're here to see photos of newly-weds walking hand in hand through golden corn fields. Look away now if you're hoping to see photos of bridal shoes strategically place beside floral bouquets. Look away now if you're expecting to see couples passionately kissing on coastal headlands at sunset. If you're simply tired of seeing these same old clichéd wedding photographs, maybe it's time to embrace the true skills of a documentary photographer. I see weddings as great social occasions, offering unique opportunities to record family history, while sharing emotional truth in my images. Immersing myself into the heart and soul of a wedding allows me to create a visual story, that's neither stage managed or fake. I've always enjoyed my job and I'm extremely grateful to the open minded couples I worked with over the past year. They were never afraid to give me the artistic freedom I truly needed, to create good wedding stories. Thank you for placing your trust in me, to take meaningful photos, without a check list. So, if you're here to see some real wedding photographs, taken without intrusion or instruction from the photographer, then you're in the right place. Here is my small collection of images which I enjoyed taking in 2017. Hope you like what you see and feel free to leave an honest comment below..
"Photography to me is catching a moment which is passing and which is true." - Jacques-Henri Lartigue
.Fair play David. One of the very best I’ve come across. Keep flying into the wind!
Awesome pics taken in the moment. They express all aspects of a day as special as a wedding. You can see the true emotion in those moments candidly captured. I have seen a lot of wedding pictures but none as truly amazing as these. Fantastic and inspired, only hope my photographer is half as good as I am an English woman marrying an Irishman in beautiful Donegal and want my family back in England to see the occasion that the Irish make of every celebration.
Aside from the one of the woman at the bar who looks like she’s having a shit time 🙂 ,
the photos are incredible. Some very interesting ones that really capture the many moods of the day.
Absolutely stunning…. These are the pictures I love. Would love you to take pictures of my kids you are so so talented
Just superb ! One of Ireland’s little gems.
