I've a soft spot for Sligo and returning there last month to photograph Nina & Robbie's wedding put a smile on my face. As the familiar shape of Knocknarea appeared on the landscape, happy childhood memories came flooding back of summer holidays, once spent in this wonderful county; it was good to be back.
Nina & Robbie tied the knot at Castle Dargan, a period house sitting in the shadow of a rugged Slieve Daeane. Family and friends gathered to witness their marriage; an exchange of rings followed by a kiss, and that was it, Nina & Robbie were husband and wife. Celebrations continued with some well deserved drinks at the bar, while the lilting sound of children playing on the swings, was music to my ears.
The photographs I've chosen to display tell the story of Nina & Robbie's wedding as it really happened. I'm a documentary wedding photographer, so don't expect to see the usual posed and staged images. What I do is not everyone's cup of tea but I strongly believe in my philosophy to produce honest photographs that are neither fake or insincere.
Thank you Nina & Robbie for giving me the artistic freedom to document your wedding day without any creative restrictions. I genuinely enjoyed being around you both on this historic family day. Enjoy the memories and best of luck to you both and the two boys in the future.
